Covid-19 Policies

As of October 1, 2022, masks will be optional for students attending our after school, evening, and weekend classes.

The safety and health of our community - students, families, and teachers - have been on the forefront of our minds since the pandemic began in March, 2020. We have met or exceeded local and national guidelines for Covid safety and will continue to do so as we move into the next phase of navigating the pandemic. We acknowledge that while the pandemic is not over, it is time to loosen the reins a little and allow families to make their own choices about masks.

We are doing this with confidence, knowing that we have the following policies and procedures in place:

Staying Home When Sick

Please keep your child home if they -OR- anyone in the family is a close contact to someone with Covid-19 or displays any of these symptoms: fever, cough, congestion, fatigue, body aches, headache, chills, rash, etc. that are not associated with an otherwise diagnosed or recurring condition.

Suspected Cases

Notify Roaring Mouse if your child has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19. We will help you make a plan for returning to class.

Testing and Returning to Class

We will work closely with families to figure out the best course of action for testing and the timeline for returning to class using this Symptom Decision Tree from the Washington Department of Health as a guideline. Students who test positive for Covid must provide a negative Covid test in order to return before the 10-day window is complete OR you may opt to not test and return after 10 days. In either case, symptoms should be improved and they must be fever free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to class.

Ventilation

Roaring Mouse utilizes air filtration systems 24/7 with three strategically placed air filters (two small ones and a large Alen BreatheSmart Classic True HEPA Air Purifier). When it is safe to do so and weather permitting, the front door may remain open for ventilation.

Handwashing

We will encourage students to wash their hands frequently. In addition, we have hand sanitizer in various locations around the studio.

Masking

While masks are no longer required at Roaring Mouse, there may be situations when we will temporarily recommend or require wearing well-fitting masks. In addition, students and staff may choose to wear a mask at Roaring Mouse with the expectation that others’ choices will be respected. Some may need to wear a mask because they or a member of their household are at high risk for severe COVID-19 disease.
